I started this blog in September 2006 when I joined the faculty at the American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, mostly as a way to stay in touch with friends. I have maintained it in fits and starts since then. In January 2009 I joined the American University of Afghanistan in Kabul where I was a social science faculty member until May 2011. I returned to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and currently teach sociology and political science as an adjunct faculty member at Central New Mexico Community College.

It’s been over 15 years since I was your student in the Whiteness class at UNM. I’m finally reconnecting with this blog that you recommended while I was still living in South Korea. It looks great… Thanks so much for your important work, Seamus!

Thanks for the kind words, Peter, and hi to you, Soyeon. I brought this blog out of mothballs and hope I can give it new life. Yours will motivate me. Onward and upward, S.
